O início de maio viu a chegada das primeiras jubartes às águas costeiras do Brasil, com avistagens em Arraial do Cabo (RJ) e Ilhabela (SP).
Essas primeiras baleias confirmam a hipótese de que, além de expandir a sua área de uso ao longo da costa brasileira, as jubartes também estão estendendo seu período de presença em nossas águas – ou seja, a existência de mais animais na população faz com que haja também uma maior variabilidade no período de migração, com algumas chegando mais cedo e partindo também mais cedo, outras chegando mais tarde e partindo mais tarde.
