GRAVAÇÕES DESVENDAM O COMPORTAMENTO SONORO DAS JUBARTES E OUTROS CETÁCEOS.

Como muitos sabem, as baleias jubarte são famosas por seus cantos melodiosos, que atravessam grandes distâncias e têm muita importância nas relações sociais entre os indivíduos.



Visando aprofundar nosso conhecimento sobre as vocalizações das jubartes e outros cetáceos na região do Banco dos Abrolhos, o Projeto Baleia Jubarte, que já vem desenvolvendo estudos acústicos em regiões costeiras em que portos e golfinhos dividem o espaço, instalou uma Estação de Monitoramento Acústico Passivo (MAP) no início desta temporada reprodutiva, com vistas a monitorar a estruturação do canto na nossa população de baleias.

A primeira fase do monitoramento foi realizada entre os dias 12 de maio e 29 de junho e rendeu 300 horas de gravações, identificando a presença das jubartes na região desde o primeiro dia de monitoramento! Esse trabalho seguirá acontecendo e deverá nos permitir aprender ainda mais sobre o canto das baleias em águas brasileiras.
